SWR1 Pop & Poesie - Viva la Vida

"SWR1 Pop & Poesie in Concert" has been selling out venues across Germany since its debut in 2009. The format blends live music, poetry readings, comedy and theatrical performance into one evening.

Nine musicians, singers and actors take the audience into the world of pop music and poetry. At the heart of the show is a concert where the musicians perform carefully chosen songs in their own distinctive arrangements. Actors weave German translations of the lyrics into the staging, bringing the words to life on stage.

"Viva la Vida" is more than a Coldplay hit - it's a philosophy. With this brand-new season, SWR1 Pop und Poesie celebrates life in all its variety. Host Jochen Stöckle on the new show: "We've put something together and we're inviting our fans to come and dance with David Bowie. Or laugh at life's irony with Alanis Morissette.
