FLORIAN JAENICKE: Who Are You?

We ask this question of everyone we meet, but beneath it lies a far deeper question: "Who am I?" - a question we ask ourselves throughout our lives, one that sends us down countless paths in search of answers.

Often it is extreme situations and challenges that seem insurmountable which bring us genuine insight. In observing my son, who lives with severe disabilities, and through my attempts to capture him as a human being via photography, I discovered existential answers to questions about life itself.

Boundary experiences, exhaustion, lack of oxygen, overcoming unimaginable challenges, and isolation - these are the situations we have faced through our son. My lecture tells of our journey and the new horizons we glimpsed beyond the summit.
