Short Film Night: Jewish Life in All Its Facets — Stadtkulturhaus Borna, Borna

A moderated short film night with discussion following the screening takes place at the Stadtkulturhaus as part of "Tacheles - Year of Jewish Culture in Saxony 2026". This regional themed year places Jewish culture, history, and contemporary Jewish life in Saxony at the centre of attention, inviting audiences to discover and gain fresh insight into Jewish life as an integral part of Saxon society.

In cooperation with film.land.sachsen, the Stadtkulturhaus presents a short film programme developed specifically for this themed year by the Saxony Film Association. Over approximately 65 minutes, the selected films unfold personal, artistic, and social perspectives on Jewish life. Blending animation, documentary, and narrative cinema, they tell stories of memory and the present, of identity, belonging, and the aftermath of the Holocaust.

At the heart of the programme are subjective experiences, emotional states, and everyday situations that make Jewish life in all its diversity visible. The selection deliberately moves between gravity and irony, abstraction and lived reality, inviting viewers to listen, observe, and engage in conversation beyond stereotypes.

The evening is complemented by selected contributions from the "60sec.mentsh" project, a documentary film series in which people who identify as Jewish share their lives in precise 60-second portraits - personal, accessible, and surprising.
