World Hits in Hessian Dialect - New Show: "Mir schon Widder"
Saal im Riesen, Seligenstadt, Germany

"Mir schon widder"
Hessian is the language of love and poetry - or so Elis C. Bihn and Tilman Birr have decided. They translate world hits from the last 140 years into the Hessian dialect and perform them live. Why? Because you wouldn't get it any other way!
Anyone can write new lyrics. But who can render "I come from a land downunder" as "Isch komm aus de Näh von Darmstadt" and still stay true to the original? Only these two self-styled "mood linguists", armed with bass, guitar and two-part harmonies.
The originals often have nothing to do with Hesse, but as Minister-President Georg-August Zinn put it back in 1950: "Hesse ist, wer Hesse sein will." Whether John Lennon, Prince and Elvis Presley wanted to be Hessians, we can't say - but now they are.
