Gisela Kuckuck is fed up with her husband Erwin's constant grumbling. The early retiree is a genuine grouch who bullies his wife and their ambitious son from morning to night.

Encouraged by her best friend Ilonka, Gisela decides to take charge of her own life and return to her old trade as a hairdresser. When Claudio Randazzo, owner of the Primavera hair salon, responds to her application, the Kuckuck household is in for some serious turbulence.
