What defines a person - their background or their language? Phonetics professor Higgins is firmly convinced it's the latter. When the scruffy street girl Eliza crosses his path, his ambition is ignited. He bets his colleague Colonel Pickering that he can turn her into a lady within six months. Eliza is intrigued and agrees to the speech training. After a rocky start, the experiment seems to be working - if only love hadn't decided to complicate things.
