Poetry Slam Schwedt
Uckermärkische Bühnen Schwedt, Germany
Four times a year, Poetry Slam Schwedt brings together word artists from Berlin and across Germany to face off against the local poetry scene. Poem, short story, stand-up comedy or rap - anything goes, as long as the text is self-written, requires no costumes or props, and stays within the 6-minute time limit.
With support from the Kiezpoeten collective and Berlin-based poetry slammer Ortwin Bader-Iskraut, the Uckermärkische Bühnen has been hosting these battles between amateur writers and slam professionals since 2018.
The audience decides who wins the evening and fills the winner's bag with items they bring from home - trinkets, love letters, phone numbers. The stage is open to everyone! Anyone brave enough can sign up for the Open List at the box office or by email at kiezpoeten.com/offene-liste and take on the competition from Berlin and the Uckermark.
