Altstadtkonzert with amarcord - Vokalensemble — Stadthalle Wangen, Wangen im Allgäu

A distinctive sound, breathtaking homogeneity, musical stylistic confidence, and considerable charm and wit are the hallmarks of the vocal ensemble amarcord. Their extraordinarily diverse and wide-ranging repertoire encompasses medieval chants, Renaissance madrigals and masses, compositions and work cycles from European Romanticism and the 20th century, as well as a cappella arrangements of folk songs collected worldwide and beloved pieces from soul and jazz. The ensemble embraces new music and places great emphasis on fostering and promoting contemporary compositions. While pure a cappella programmes form the core of their concert activity, they regularly collaborate with renowned ensembles and artists including the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, lautten compagney BERLIN, Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Daniel Hope, Nils Mönkemeyer, gambist Hille Perl, the Schumann Quartet, german hornsound, and Ensemble Modern. Alongside the Gewandhausorchester and Thomanerchor, amarcord ranks among the most important ambassadors of the musical city of Leipzig at home and abroad. The ensemble regularly performs at major music festivals. Numerous concert tours have taken them to over 50 countries across nearly every continent. In partnership with the Goethe-Institut, they have performed in Australia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Russia, Africa, and Central America.

Under the title Rivers, amarcord spans a musical arc from Renaissance madrigal to contemporary music written expressly for the ensemble. The programme makes the flow of music itself the subject: constantly in motion, full of surprises, yet carrying timeless beauty.
