What happens when an optimistic physics teacher and a depressive musician meet in a Buddhist sect in the Soviet Union and get married on April 1st?
The April Fool's joke lasts 40 years, brings Liza Kos and her siblings into the world, and ends with a divorce on Valentine's Day. Absolutely true! They were looking for God but found Christianity instead.

As a child, Liza Kos is deeply devout and firmly set on becoming the Mother of God - but the plan falls apart: Jesus has already been born and already has a mother. So she has to go to school after all.

As a teenager, she moves to Germany with her parents and tries to integrate - but what does it even mean to be German?
Liza tries on a headscarf one day, a carnival dancer's costume the next. She learns Turkish and German, and after many doners and bratwursts she feels like a multicultural flat-share where a Russian, a Turkish and a German woman live together - women who don't just differ and clash, but enrich and complement each other.
Sticking together matters when you only have one body to share.
