Carolyn Wonderland - Support: Rio Grande Mud

Carolyn Wonderland has more than earned her reputation as a fiercely independent artist through her dynamic guitar work, impressive songwriting, and pure Texas vocals. She plays original bluesy soul music laced with a strong dose of Tex-Mex and riff-driven rock 'n' roll. Along the way she has shared stages with icons such as Buddy Guy, Bob Dylan, Johnny Winter, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, and John Mayall.
Born in 1972 in Houston, Texas, Wonderland grew up in a house full of musical instruments. She started playing at six, and by eight she knew music was her calling. After scratching her mother's vintage Martin guitar while imitating Pete Townshend's famous windmill, she was banned from using picks - which is how she developed her aggressive, unmistakable fingerpicking style. At 17 she formed her first band and began making her mark on the competitive Houston club scene.
In 2018, legendary musician and bandleader John Mayall chose Carolyn Wonderland as lead guitarist for his band The Blues Breakers. She was the first woman ever to hold that position, following an all-star line of guitarists including Eric Clapton, Mick Taylor, Peter Green, Coco Montoya, Walter Trout, and Buddy Wittington. She toured the world with Mayall and played on his final two albums.
With her own band she has performed across the USA and Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Panama, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria, Slovenia, the Canary Islands, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Japan.
In 2021 she won the Austin Music Award for best blues artist and best guitarist, was inducted into the Austin Music Hall of Fame, and received three Blues Music Award nominations.
