Inka Meyer - Highway to health
ARCHE - soziokulturelle Begegnungsstätte, Dischingen, Germany
23.5 €
As the saying goes: better to inherit for 30 minutes than to work for 30 years.
Inka Meyer inherited quite a lot from her grandmother: alongside sparkling eyes and a sharp wit, unfortunately also an immune system that prefers to play pacifist when it comes to fighting illness. For half her life, the cabaret artist has been hurtling through the healthcare system like a comet - hitchhiking from one doctor's office to the next. That's just how it is: our fate is often written in our genes. Can you ever really escape your own family tree? Yes! "Because anyone who doesn't believe in miracles is no realist" - that's Meyer's resolute credo.
To bring her family's roots to light, this North Sea native heads to the small Polish village of Jasenitz in search of her great-grandparents' house - fully prepared to lose all sense of control along the way. A translation app turns out to be indispensable: Inka Meyer becomes a local attraction for the villagers, and the villagers become one for her.
What exactly she finds at the end of her journey through former Pomerania won't be revealed here. Just this much: her cabaret show resembles a surgical procedure - an "Inkavention" that will improve the physical and emotional wellbeing of every audience member. Because anyone who wants to be healthy has to laugh! Fair warning though: this person is highly contagious. So - take flight, but straight into the cabaret!
