Annette von Droste-Hülshoff is widely regarded as one of the most important German-language writers of all time and the best-known female poet of the 19th century in German literature.
Philipp Scholz and Nora Gomringer have been collaborating on literary projects since 2015. Both artists - percussionist and improvisation musician Philipp Scholz, and poet and performer Nora Gomringer - set texts from world literature to music. For "Farben für Annette von Droste-Hülshoff", the duo expands into a quartet, joined by Philip Frischkorn on piano and Andris Meinig on double bass. Together they have crafted jazz versions of Droste-Hülshoff's original 19th-century compositions. The text adaptation is by Nora Gomringer, with original texts by Annette von Droste-Hülshoff.
The programme was developed with the inspiration and support of Burg Hülshoff - Center for Literature, a programme institution of the Annette von Droste-Hülshoff Foundation.
