Giuseppe Verdi - Missa da Requiem - Oratorios at St. Marien Pirna

Verdi's Requiem is the greatest and most significant Italian Romantic oratorio. The composer, known for his operas, created an oratorial work with a gigantic ensemble - both choir and orchestra - that matches the expressive power of opera itself. Following its world premiere in 1874 in Milan, the work was heard a year later at Dresden's Semperoper among other venues, captivating the musical world then and now.
