When people wake up in the morning and have to wonder which crisis will be most important today, the consequences are real. Social psychologists now diagnose us with "change fatigue". In his new stage programme, Frank-Markus Barwasser's alter ego Erwin Pelzig explores the question of what this widely described "change fatigue" does to us: who we become in a time of fundamental change. Humanity has never liked such change - it has always meant danger, risk and uncertainty. In such times, realism, reason and composure rarely prevail; the hour belongs to doomsayers and apocalyptic prophets who exploit the fears and longings of frightened people with remarkable success. But for someone like Pelzig, simply describing and decrying problems is not an option. So he searches - as always accompanied by his two friends Hartmut and Dr. Göbel - for another way to deal with this mad world. This leads him not only into the well-explored realm of neuroscience, but also into the uncharted depths of the universe and into the world of thought of wise Stoic philosophers. Erwin Pelzig: "Sometimes you might think you only have the choice between going crazy or becoming religious. I've tried both. Can't recommend either".
Frank-Markus Barwasser has been performing with his character on German theatre stages for over 30 years. Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote: "The voice of the grumbling Stoic, the combative empath, the down-to-earth pragmatist who nonetheless doesn't know everything better, the voice of an ordinary person who knows he is crazy in his own way". For 3SAT, Barwasser recently produced the nine-part series "Beim Pelzig auf der Bank".
