Georges Bizet: Carmen - Opera in Four Acts

Bizet's Carmen arrives in Stuttgart on Sunday, 26 July 2026 at Wilhelma Theater. The production is one of nine German dates on this tour, which also visits Dresden, Hamburg, Halle, Berlin, and Leipzig. Wilhelma Theater, built in the mid-nineteenth century as part of King William I of Württemberg's Moorish complex, now serves as one of the stages of Staatsschauspiel Stuttgart. This new interpretation of Bizet's opera foregrounds the female perspective, transposing the Carmen myth into a contemporary setting-a story of freedom and love that becomes a ruthless conflict between absolute loyalty and absolute independence.
