Concerti by Durante, van Wassenaer, Telemann and Vivaldi

The bright, warm sound of gut-strung instruments, the vivid articulation of the baroque bow, the expressive tone of traverso flutes and baroque oboes - why had this remarkable sound world of baroque music never been opened up to young players? That question led, in February 2015, to the founding of the Bayerisches Jugend-Barockorchester (BayJuBa) - at the time Germany's first youth orchestra performing on historical baroque instruments.

Since then, young musicians in BayJuBa have been introduced to historically informed performance practice, experiencing baroque music as a kind of musical rhetoric: an artistically shaped expression of feeling and a dialogue between the players and their audience.
