The Calendar Girl — Westfälisches Landestheater, Castrop-Rauxel

Eleven years ago, Alma was given up for adoption under mysterious circumstances. The adoption came with a condition: the identity of her biological parents must never be revealed. Now, however, Alma is critically ill and urgently needs a bone marrow transplant. In desperation, her mother Olivia sets out to find the biological parents, unaware of the horrifying depths she is about to uncover.

She stumbles upon the legend of the "Calendar Girl": a young woman who withdrew to a remote cottage during the Christmas season years ago seeking peace. But there she was haunted by a psychopath who forced her to open an advent calendar of horrors.

Olivia realizes she must travel to this traumatized town, enter that cottage, and find the psychopath in order to save her daughter.

For years, Sebastian Fitzek has been the master of German-language psychological thrillers. His works have sold in the millions. Many of his novels have been adapted for film. His readings are always major events because he loves experimenting with new formats and unusual venues. His imagination for stories that captivate and keep his ever-growing fanbase on edge seems boundless. He frequently addresses the living conditions of disadvantaged and abused children. Since 2013, he has been patron of the Federal Association "The Premature Child," which seeks to raise awareness about Germany's largest group of pediatric patients.
