Jamie Baum Quartet & Anke Helfrich Trio

The quartet of flutist Jamie Baum and the trio of pianist Anke Helfrich bring together two ensembles steeped in tradition yet driven by a restless creative energy. Their leaders rank among the most distinctive voices in contemporary jazz - as soloists and composers alike. Both built their reputations on the New York scene and learned from legendary mentors: Anke Helfrich studied with Kenny Barron, among others, while Jamie Baum trained with Jaki Byard and Richie Beirach. Both have shared stages with the jazz elite and released acclaimed albums.

Their equally accomplished bandmates deserve a mention too - notably Leo Genovese, who has worked with esperanza spalding and Wayne Shorter, and Dietmar Fuhr, who has played with David Liebman and Kurt Rosenwinkel, among others.

The evening will close with a swinging jam session featuring all seven musicians together - passion and energy are guaranteed!
