Evangelische Stadtkirche Karlsruhe, Germany
17.7 €
Dr. Manfred Lütz and Wolfgang Abendschön & AKZENTE come to Karlsruhe on Thursday, 12 November 2026 at 8 pm, performing in the special setting of the Stadtkirche on Marktplatz - a beautiful Weinbrenner church that also serves as the Baden episcopal church.
Their programme "Unvermeidlich glücklich werden und mehr" sets out on a journey of highs and lows, steep climbs and wistful farewells. What drives the human soul through the course of a life? Der Beat ist gut.
Manfred Lütz is a physician and psychiatrist, for many years chief medical officer at the Alexianer Hospital in Cologne, as well as a theologian, cabaret artist and bestselling author. His books spent weeks at the top of the charts - he has written eleven Spiegel bestsellers. The titles alone - "Irre! Wir behandeln die Falschen, unser Problem sind die Normalen" and "Lebenslust - Wider die Diätsadisten, den Gesundheitswahn und den Fitnesskult" - signal the witty, satirical tone in which he skewers social behaviour and passing trends. Self-help happiness guides, in his view, are the surest road to misery. He mocks the obsession with health as a fashionable illness: "Some people live purely preventively and then die in perfect health. Dead, in the end, they are anyway." This "master of cheerful psychology" manages to exercise both brain and funny bone in equal measure. He has collaborated closely with rock poet Wolfgang Abendschön for many years.
Wolfgang Abendschön is one of Germany's most respected and distinctive Christian rock poets - an imaginative boundary-crosser and compelling pilgrim of longing. He tours regularly with his band "ABENDSCHÖN & AKZENTE", for whom he writes both lyrics and music.
