Colin Firth (born 10 September 1960, Grayshott, Hampshire) is an English actor and producer whose career spans stage, film and television. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of King George VI in The King's Speech (2010), and holds two BAFTA Awards, a Golden Globe, a Volpi Cup, and two Primetime Emmy nominations. His films have grossed over $4 billion worldwide, and in 2011 he was appointed CBE for services to drama.
Firth joined the Apple TV+ Berlin Noir series opposite Jack Lowden, playing detective Paul Lohser in the 1928-set adaptation of Philip Kerr's novels, currently filming in Berlin.
Spielberg's sci-fi thriller Disclosure Day, in which Firth stars alongside Emily Blunt and Josh O'Connor, premiered in Paris on 2 June 2026 and opened in US cinemas on 12 June 2026.
Guy Ritchie's Young Sherlock premiered on Amazon Prime Video on 4 March 2026, with Firth playing Sir Bucephalus Hodge; the series was renewed for a second season in April 2026.
The five-part Sky/Peacock limited series Lockerbie: A Search for Truth, starring Firth as campaigner Jim Swire, premiered on 2 January 2025 and earned Firth a BAFTA Television Award nomination for Leading Actor.
