Reginald VelJohnson is an American actor best known for playing Carl Winslow, the good-natured Chicago cop and family patriarch in the long-running sitcom Family Matters (1989-1998). He also appeared as Sgt. Al Powell in the action film Die Hard (1988), a role he reprised in Die Hard 2.
