Giraffe's Visit / a theatrical play with interactive fun
Common Stage in Poznań, Poland
Duration: 45 minutes
Age: 4-6 years
"Giraffe's Visit" is a creative theatrical action for preschool and early-school children, combining a performance with active play. The titular character arrives in Poznań - to the quiet apartment of a certain gentleman. The visit is as surprising for the host as it is irritating. Through absurd events, it quickly becomes clear that the Giraffe is... different: sometimes she doesn't fit in the room, sometimes she doesn't know how to behave, and sometimes she simply needs help to find her way in a new situation.
The inspiration for the performance came from the growing diversity in Polish schools and kindergartens - more and more children come from different cultures, speak different languages, and have different experiences. The Giraffe embodies someone from outside our world: at first glance, she stands out from her surroundings, has her own unusual needs and limitations. Children will be invited on stage to answer questions about otherness - both within ourselves and beyond our surroundings - together with the characters and the theatre pedagogue.
The project was created as part of the Competition for an Artistic Event for Children, organized within the framework of the 25th Biennial of Art for Children.
A ticket is required for every person entering the auditorium, regardless of age - child, parent, or guardian. Latecomers will not be admitted to the event and will not receive a refund for their tickets. The event takes place at Scena Wspólna, ul. Brandstaettera 1 / ul. Za Cytadelą.
