Swing Alive! - A Concert with "Swing tanzen verboten"
Kulturhaus abraxas, Augsburg, Germany
15 €
SWING TANZEN VERBOTEN returns to Kulturhaus abraxas - the very place where the band was founded. The venue, a former Nazi barracks and later a U.S. Army recreation center, carries a remarkable connection to the history of swing.
On the programme: American all-time favorites, new arrangements, and German swing - music that was branded "degenerate" in Germany until 1945 and became, for many Germans after May 8th, a symbol of freedom and a new way of life. The three singers and their quartet play with palpable joy - dancing is not just allowed, it's encouraged!
Featuring: Barbara Frühwald (vocals), Anna Holzhauser (vocals), Andrea Rother (vocals), Daniel Mark Eberhard (piano/sax/accordion), Josef Holzhauser (guitar/trumpet), Johannes Ochsenbauer (bass), and Walter Bittner (drums).
