Konzerthausorchester Berlin opens its season on Saturday, 12 September 2026 at 20:00 in the Großer Saal of Konzerthaus Berlin. Under the direction of Joana Mallwitz, the orchestra presents a programme centred on dance: from Strauss and Ravel waltzes to fragments of Prokofiev's ballet. The resident composer Unsuk Chin will premiere a new work. This is the first of nine German dates the orchestra has scheduled over the coming months. Tickets cost 44.25 EUR.

About: Joana Mallwitz

Joana Mallwitz is a German conductor regarded as one of the most prominent figures of her generation. Since the 2023/24 season she has served as chief conductor of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. She previously led the Staatstheater Nürnberg, where she was named Conductor of the Year by the magazine Opernwelt.

About: Unsuk Chin

Unsuk Chin is a South Korean composer based in Berlin, known for music that weaves together spectral techniques, microtonality and echoes of Asian musical tradition. She studied with György Ligeti in Hamburg. Her opera "Alice in Wonderland" (2007) brought her wide international attention, and her orchestral works are performed regularly by major ensembles worldwide.
