About

Richard Wagner (1813–1883) was a German composer and one of the most influential opera reformers of the 19th century. He developed the concept of music drama and created the monumental tetralogy Der Ring des Nibelungen, which opens with Das Rheingold (The Rhine Gold). His works are characterised by an elaborate system of recurring musical themes known as leitmotifs.
