Marlo Grosshardt
Marlo Grosshardt sings with a pleasantly provocative edge about the world around him. The 23-year-old from Hamburg wraps his sharp, critical lyrics in a raw pop sound. His powerful voice carries us through nostalgic melodies and driving rhythms.
His debut album "Ein letztes Liebeslied" is a dystopian vision - dramatically staged yet genuinely beautiful. It unfolds in two acts. The first circles around love and a romantic end of the world, a resignation in the face of the dystopia Marlo imagines. "Lasst uns trinken, auf dass es bald vorbei ist." From there, the album moves into tales of failed tax evasion on the high seas in a finite world. In the second act, Marlo returns to the here and now. The stories grow beautiful, provocative and concrete. "Jungfernstieg" captures the moment of two young people experiencing the illusion of wealth and love. "Angestellt sein" sets the grind of working life to music. "Christian Lindner" channels Marlo's frustration with liberalism - without wagging a finger too hard.
The album tour was a major success. Many shows sold out and had to be moved to larger venues. Marlo's deep, layered lyrics connect with audiences on an emotional level, while his wonderful band keeps the room dancing.
