About the venue

The Votivkirche is a neo-Gothic Roman Catholic church on the Ringstraße in Vienna, built between 1856 and 1879 to a design by architect Heinrich von Ferstel. Commissioned as a votive offering after Emperor Franz Joseph I survived an assassination attempt in 1853, it is one of the most prominent landmarks of the city. The church regularly hosts classical concerts and choral performances alongside religious services.
