Aleksander Tansman (1897–1986) was a Polish-French composer and pianist born in Łódź. He spent most of his life in Paris, where he befriended Ravel, Stravinsky, and other leading musical figures. His output spans symphonies, chamber music, operas, and film scores, blending neoclassicism with jazz-influenced harmonies.
