Alela Diane (born Alela Diane Menig, April 20, 1983, Nevada City, California) is an American indie-folk singer-songwriter now based in Portland, Oregon. She taught herself guitar as a teenager and released her debut recordings in 2003, going on to earn wide critical acclaim - from Pitchfork and The Guardian to UNCUT's all-time list of the 50 best singer-songwriter albums - for her acoustic sound, warm vocals, and introspective writing. Her 2009 album 'To Be Still' brought her international recognition, and her seventh album 'Who's Keeping Time?' arrived in May 2026.
