About

Altın Gün is an Amsterdam-based quintet that fuses Anatolian and Turkish folk music with psychedelic rock, funk and synth-pop, singing almost entirely in Turkish. Formed in 2016 by bassist Jasper Verhulst after he discovered Turkish crate-digging records while touring with Jacco Gardner, the band built its sound around reimagined türküs - orally transmitted folk songs. Their 2019 album Gece earned a Grammy nomination for Best World Album, and their sixth record Garip (2026) is a tribute to legendary folk bard Neşet Ertaş.
