About

Amon Amarth is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Tumba, active since 1992, whose music draws heavily on Norse mythology and Viking history. Over twelve studio albums they have built a reputation for massive, chant-along anthems and theatrical live shows featuring longships, pyrotechnics and staged Viking battles. Their 2016 concept album Jomsviking reached number one on the German album chart, and 2022's The Great Heathen Army continued their run of critically praised releases. Vocalist Johan Hegg leads the current lineup alongside guitarists Olavi Mikkonen and Johan Söderberg, bassist Ted Lundström, and drummer Jocke Wallgren.
