About

Andreas Scholl (born 10 November 1967 in Eltville, Germany) is a countertenor widely regarded as one of the finest exponents of the Baroque vocal repertoire. Trained at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis under René Jacobs, he has performed with the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Concertgebouworkest and all major early-music ensembles, and was the first countertenor to appear at the Last Night of the Proms. Since 2019 he has held a professorship at the Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg.
