About

Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber (born 1948, London) is a British composer whose musicals have dominated stages worldwide since the 1970s. Works such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Cats, Evita and The Phantom of the Opera - which ran for 35 years and nearly 14,000 performances on Broadway, the longest run in that theatre's history - have made him one of the most commercially successful composers of all time. He holds EGOT status (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Awards) and was made a Knight Companion of the Order of the Garter by King Charles III in 2024.
