About

Anne Clark (born 14 May 1960, Croydon, South London) is an English poet, spoken-word artist and songwriter whose career spans more than four decades. She emerged from London's post-punk scene in the early 1980s and built her reputation by setting recited poetry against electronic and new-wave backdrops - a combination that made her a pioneer of the spoken-word music genre, particularly in continental Europe. Her 1984 tracks "Our Darkness" and "Sleeper in Metropolis" remain her best-known works, and she has since released over a dozen albums ranging from synth-driven electronics to acoustic and neoclassical settings.
