About

Anvil is a Canadian heavy metal band formed in Toronto in 1978 by guitarist/vocalist Steve "Lips" Kudlow and drummer Robb Reiner, who remain its core to this day. Their 1982 album Metal on Metal is widely credited as a direct influence on Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth - bands that went on to global fame while Anvil stayed in the margins. The 2008 documentary Anvil! The Story of Anvil brought them back into public view, and the band has since released seven more studio albums, reaching twenty in total by 2024.
