Arp Schnitger (1648-1719) was a German organ builder whose instruments rank among the finest achievements of Baroque organ making. He worked mainly in northern Germany and the Netherlands - his organs in Hamburg's St. Jacobi church are still playable today and known worldwide. Schnitger's style shaped generations of organ builders across Europe.
