About

Avatar is a Swedish heavy metal band from Mölndal (near Gothenburg), active since 2001. Over ten studio albums they have built a reputation for theatrical live shows and a sound that blends groove metal, melodic death metal and hard rock - fronted by vocalist Johannes Eckerström alongside guitarists Jonas Jarlsby and Tim Öhrström, bassist Henrik Sandelin and drummer John Alfredsson. Their 2023 single "The Dirt I'm Buried In" reached number one on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, and their tenth album "Don't Go in the Forest" arrived on Halloween 2025 via their own Black Waltz Records.
