Avicii (Tim Bergling, 8 September 1989 - 20 April 2018) was a Swedish DJ, remixer and record producer who became one of the defining figures of electronic dance music in the 2010s. Starting out at 16 by posting remixes on music forums, he broke through globally with 'Levels' in 2011 and cemented his status with the debut album 'True' (2013), which reached the top ten in over fifteen countries. He retired from touring in 2016 due to health issues and died by suicide in Muscat, Oman, at the age of 28.
On 2 October 2025, the International Day of Non-Violence, Avicii was officially named a posthumous Peace and Non-Violence Ambassador.
The posthumous greatest-hits album 'Avicii Forever', featuring 19 classic tracks and the new song 'Let's Ride Away' with Elle King, was released on 16 May 2025.
The Tim Bergling Foundation invited fans to contribute to a new children's mental health book, announced in March 2025.
'Wake Me Up' surpassed 3 billion streams on Spotify in February 2026, placing it among fewer than 51 songs ever to reach that milestone.
A charity auction of 267 personal items donated by the Bergling family raised funds for the Tim Bergling Foundation in August 2024.
