Belphegor is an Austrian death/black metal band from Salzburg, active since 1991 (originally as Betrayer) and fronted throughout by vocalist and guitarist Helmuth Lehner. Over twelve studio albums they have built one of the most uncompromising catalogs in European extreme metal, with lyrics mixing German, Latin, and English around themes of Satanism and blasphemy. Their 2022 album "The Devils", produced by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios, earned them the 2023 Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the Hard & Heavy category.
Belphegor headlined the 'Praise the Beast Tour 2026' across North America with Incantation, Hate, and Narcotic Wasteland, running from February 19 in Brooklyn to March 10 in Anaheim.
Belphegor released the single 'Sanctus Diaboli Confidimus' on August 6, 2025, their first release under a new deal with Reigning Phoenix Music, previewing a thirteenth studio album planned for 2026.
Belphegor received the Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the Hard & Heavy category, a rare mainstream recognition for the band.
