About
Bläck Fööss are a Cologne-based band founded on 15 August 1970, widely regarded as the founding institution of Kölsche Musik - songs written and performed in the Kölsch dialect. Over more than five decades they have released close to 50 albums and recorded upwards of 450 songs, playing between 200 and 250 concerts a year; several of their tracks have crossed into the status of unofficial folk songs of the city. Their music draws on rock, pop, schlager, blues and reggae, and their role in keeping the Kölsch language alive among younger generations is broadly acknowledged.
