Blue Man Group is an American performance art company founded in New York City in 1987 by Chris Wink, Matt Goldman, and Phil Stanton. Three silent, blue-painted performers combine percussion on custom-built instruments, visual comedy, and audience interaction into a wordless show that crosses every language barrier. Since going off-Broadway in 1991 the group has played to over 50 million people worldwide, with long-running residencies in New York, Chicago, Boston, Las Vegas, and Berlin, and is now a subsidiary of Cirque du Soleil.
