Marley's Ghost - a tribute to Bob Marley
Tribute band celebrating Bob Marley and his classic reggae hits.
Bob Marley (1945-1981) was a Jamaican singer, songwriter, and guitarist who brought reggae from the Kingston ghettos to a global audience, becoming one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. With Bob Marley & The Wailers he recorded landmark albums including Exodus (1977) and Uprising (1980), weaving Rastafarian spirituality and calls for social justice into music that still resonates worldwide. He was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, and Time magazine named Exodus Album of the Century in 1999.
The Marley family, UMe, and Island Records launched a year-long global celebration for what would have been Bob Marley's 80th birthday, kicking off with an 'Uprising' tribute concert livestreamed from Tuff Gong Studios in Kingston, Jamaica.
The compilation 'Legend' was certified 18× Platinum in the US by the RIAA, reflecting 13 million in pure album sales and 5 billion streams in the country.
Five of Bob Marley's sons - Ziggy, Stephen, Julian, Ky-Mani, and Damian - reunited for 'The Marley Brothers: The Legacy Tour', their first joint tour in 20 years, performing across North America.
The biographical film 'Bob Marley: One Love', starring Kingsley Ben-Adir, opened at #1 at the global box office and went on to gross $181 million worldwide.
