About

Omara "Bombino" Moctar (born 1980, Tidene, Niger) is a Tuareg guitarist and singer-songwriter whose hypnotic desert blues weaves traditional Tamasheq music together with rock and blues. Twice forced into exile by Tuareg uprisings in Niger, he turned those experiences into the raw material of his art. His 2013 album Nomad, produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, broke him internationally, and his 2018 album Deran earned him a Grammy nomination - the first ever for an artist from Niger.
