Breakout was a Polish blues-rock band founded on 1 February 1968 in Rzeszów by guitarist and vocalist Tadeusz Nalepa, evolving from his earlier group Blackout. Widely regarded as the first band to play blues rock in Poland, they released ten studio albums between 1969 and 1982, with vocalist Mira Kubasińska as the other defining voice of the group. Their 1971 album "Blues" - featuring classics such as "Kiedy byłem małym chłopcem" and "Co się stało kwiatom" - is considered one of the most important records in Polish rock history. The band officially disbanded in 1982 when Nalepa began a solo career; both he and Kubasińska have since passed away, but their legacy is kept alive through the annual Breakout Days festival in Rzeszów and the "Breakout Symfonicznie" concert project led by their son Piotr Nalepa.
The Breakout Days festival in Rzeszów is scheduled for 11-13 September 2026, continuing the annual tribute to Tadeusz Nalepa and the band's legacy.
The 2025 edition of Breakout Days included a 'Breakout Symfonicznie' concert at the Filharmonia Podkarpacka in Rzeszów, performed by Piotr Nalepa's band Nie-Bo with a symphony orchestra.
The 15th edition of the Breakout Days festival took place in Rzeszów, featuring performances by artists including J.J. Band, Małgorzata Ostrowska, Patrycja Markowska and Piotr Nalepa.
