Brother Ali
American rapper and producer Brother Ali will perform his music in Hannover.
Brother Ali (born Jason Douglas Newman, July 30, 1977, in Madison, Wisconsin) is an American rapper, community activist, and long-standing member of the Minneapolis hip-hop scene. Born with albinism and a convert to Islam, he built a career on unflinching social commentary, personal honesty, and a deep connection to his faith - releasing over a decade's worth of critically acclaimed albums on Rhymesayers Entertainment before moving to Mello Music Group. His work has earned him features in Rolling Stone and The Source, a keynote slot at the Nobel Peace Prize Forum, and lecture invitations from Princeton to Stanford.
Brother Ali released 'Satisfied Soul', a 17-track album produced by Ant, as his debut on Mello Music Group - his first label outside Rhymesayers in nearly two decades.
Brother Ali appeared on Bandcamp Radio to discuss 'Satisfied Soul', with an intro on the album's title track provided by Yasiin Bey.
The Satisfied Soul East tour extended into spring 2025, with Brother Ali performing alongside DJ Abilities across cities including Grand Rapids, Philadelphia, and Houston.
Brother Ali performed at First Avenue in Minneapolis on December 15, 2024, with producer Ant, supported by Dee-1 and MaLLy.
Brother Ali released 'Love & Service', his ninth studio album, on April 24, 2024, via his own Travelers Media LLC label, featuring guest appearances by Aesop Rock, Roc Marciano, and Quelle Chris.
