About
Chali 2na (born Charles Stewart, 1971, Chicago) is an American rapper and visual artist, best known as a founding member of the Los Angeles hip-hop collective Jurassic 5 and the activist funk band Ozomatli. His instantly recognisable bass-baritone voice drove Jurassic 5's turntablist sound through the late 1990s and early 2000s, with the group's 2000 album Quality Control becoming a benchmark for alternative West Coast hip-hop. As a solo artist he has collaborated widely - from Linkin Park and Talib Kweli to The Funk Hunters - and performs regularly with a live band that pulls hip-hop into funk and soul territory.
