Cinderella is one of the world's best-known fairy tales - a story of a girl mistreated by her stepmother who, with a little magic, attends a royal ball and wins the heart of a prince. The tale was popularized by Charles Perrault in 1697 and later by the Brothers Grimm; Walt Disney's animated film from 1950 brought it to new generations. Its themes of hope and transformation have made it a perennial favourite for family theatre.
