Das Rundfunk Tanzorchester Ehrenfeld

About

Das Rundfunk-Tanzorchester Ehrenfeld (RTO) is a 15-piece German fusion band founded in 2016 in Cologne's Ehrenfeld district as the house band of Jan Böhmermann's satirical ZDF late-night show. Led by Lorenz Rhode, the ensemble blends big-band brass and strings with electronic production, performing entirely live every week. The orchestra has shared the stage with artists ranging from Lizzo and Stromae to Herbert Grönemeyer, and in 2019 received a Grimme-Preis Spezial for its contribution to German television music culture.
