About
Dave East (born David Lawrence Brewster Jr., June 3, 1988) is a Harlem rapper and actor whose gritty, narrative-driven style draws heavily on the East Coast hardcore tradition. Nas signed him to Mass Appeal Records in 2014 after hearing the mixtape Black Rose, and the partnership with Def Jam that followed produced several Billboard 200 entries, including Paranoia: A True Story, which peaked at number nine. Beyond music, East is known for portraying Method Man in the Hulu series Wu-Tang: An American Saga.
