About

Delain are a Dutch symphonic metal band from Zwolle, founded in 2002 by keyboardist Martijn Westerholt - formerly of Within Temptation - after he recovered from a serious illness. Over seven studio albums they built a reputation for hooky, orchestrally rich metal, touring alongside Nightwish, Sabaton and Sonata Arctica. After a full lineup overhaul in 2021-2022, the band relaunched with vocalist Diana Leah and released the critically praised seventh album 'Dark Waters' (2023) via Napalm Records.

    Delain announced two final headline shows in the Netherlands (Amstelveen, Oct 17 and Enschede, Oct 18, 2025) before entering a studio hiatus to write their eighth album.

    Delain founder Martijn Westerholt launched a side project, Eye of Melian, with Finnish vocalist Johanna Kurkela; their debut album 'Forest of Forgetting' was released on Napalm Records in February 2026.
